Pizza Night

Ok, I was invited over for pizza the other night at a friend's house. I work
with him. They have a tradition to have pizza on fridays. I have been to
their house on several occasions for said pizza. They are very gracious
folks. I actually stayed with them for two weeks when I first arrived in
country. They have three kids, ages 7,5, and 3 roughly. I was sitting in the
salon, waiting for the pizza to arrive. The kids had just finished their
baths and they came running in to play on me. Then something very stranged
happened. The 5 year old gave me two gold candy wrappers (they look like
gold coins) and said, "These are for your kids." I was taken aback by that
statement since I have no children. And for the first time in my life, I was
asked "How many kids do you have?" from the 7 year old. The 5 year old piped
in, 'yeah, how old are your kids?' I was kinda taken off guard by these
questions. I laughed and said that I was not married and did not have any
kids. Apparently, this was not sufficient. They persisted that I was indeed
married and that I had kids and they wanted to know how many and how old. I
was a bit perplexed that they didn't believe me (why would I lie?). I
insisted that I was not married and had no kids. I said, 'Look at your dad's
hands, he has a gold ring on one hand and that means he's married. See, look
at my hands, I have no ring.' The quick 7 year old replied, 'Well, you must
have taken it off!' Well, they wanted the truth, and I wasn't giving it
satisfactorly. So they went to the source of all truth, their parents. Well,
namely their mom. She had just come into the room and they rush to ask her
if Uncle Scot was indeed married or not. Her first reply was, 'Well, he's
sitting right there, why don't you ask him?' of course, i replied to her,
'They did'. So she looks them square in the eye and says the truth
matter-of-factly, 'Uncle Scot is not married'.....its been ringing in my
head eversince. But I suppose I am an oddity to the kids, being the only
adult (who they see often) who is not married and has no kids. I was
planning on leaving the golden wrappers at their house, but their mom
slipped them into my bag somehow and here I am staring at them and
remembering...when i should be doing a bit of Word study, i am giving 'the
Word' at tomorrow's service!

LOL! What a great story! So, are you going to keep those golden candy wrappers?

MOM of the three says, I had not idea of all the pre conversation. I need to work with my kids on accepting the truth. And you should keep those wrappers, they may be worth lots of money someday :) I noticed you didn't mention the movie we watched :)

What an interesting story. You never know you could be married with kids before you know it. Just look at Shane and Sherri, married 41/2 years and have three kids! I hope we will be seeing you in morocco next year. We won't let Nathan give you a hard time about not having kids.

May it be proclaimed from the far reaches of the globe: "Scot is a fine catch."

If you're not going to use those wrappers for anything, I think Nathan could find a good use for them!! :0) Are you sure they're not real gold?
